PTFE Dampers (Pair) AT6PD01
for the Align T-Rex 600 series of helicopters

."

As used by some of the world's top pilots!

Description PTFE Dampers for the Align T-Rex 600 series of helicopters:
- 600N Pro (Nitro)
- 600N Sport (Nitro)
- 600E Carbon Fibre (Electric)
- 600E Alloy (Electric)

Our dampers work with both the old and new hub designs.

Material Extruded Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)
Purpose The purpose of these dampers is to improve cyclic response, prevent 'bottoming out' of the feathering spindle and vastly improve damper life.

During flight, flapping forces from the rotor are transmitted into the feathering spindle which tries to move within the rotor hub.  Head dampers are designed to cushion this movement.  However, during hard 3D the rubber dampers provided in the kit are not sufficient to prevent excessive movement and as soon as the feathering spindle rotates more than 3.5° it hits the aluminium rotor hub producing a 'hard stop'.  Excessive movement also tends to wear out standard dampers very quickly. In the following simplified diagram the brown areas represent standard rubber dampers under full deformation...the feathering spindle is 'bottoming out' on the rotor hub...

Heli-Lessons PTFE dampers are far more resilient than rubber dampers and do not allow the feathering spindle to bottom out on the rotor hub.  More experienced pilots will also feel that they give a more 'crisp' cyclic response.

Update August 2007:  Align have created a new see-saw hub which holds the feathering spindle at the centre.  This gives protection to standard dampers during collective movements but does nothing to protect them during cyclic control inputs. Therefore, even with the new hub we still recommend our dampers (well we would, wouldn't we!)

Manufacture Hand made on the lathe by Heli-lessons' Global Production Division (i.e. Nigel). Please
note that these dampers are custom-made for you and, if required can be sized to
your requirements at no extra charge.
Instructions T-Rex 600 series helicopters are normally fitted with four rubber dampers (2 per side).
The Heli-Lessons PTFE dampers are twice the width of the original items and
therefore only two are required.

1. Remove main rotor holders (blade grips).
2. Extract feathering shaft (spindle) from the main rotor housing (main rotor hub).
3. Push damper rubbers out.
4. Clean the area in the head where the dampers are located and remove any grease.
5. Insert PTFE dampers - one per side.
6. Insert feathering shaft keeping the dampers within the head. No grease is required.
7. Replace copper spacers and re-assemble head as per manufacturer’s instructions.

Safety Information For experienced 3D pilots only.
Always fit in pairs, i.e. one set of two dampers per helicopter (replacing the four
standard ones).
